Kluane Point Kennel is located on 30 acres just outside of Haines Junction, in the Yukon Territory, Canada. We are a whole family business, focused on raising healthy, well - socialized family and hunting companions. Our Griffs are exposed to live birds, fur and blood in their first weeks of life, as well as wide open spaces and water. Our passion is to develop a superb companion for the on foot hunter, and an all around versatile dog for the active family. We are members of the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Club of Canada, and the American Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Association and adhere to their breeder standards for health testing for hips, elbows, thyroid and eyes through the OFA.
Wire Haired Pointing Griffons are well known as versatile gun dogs, excelling in all aspects of hunting upland game birds and waterfowl, as well as hunting and tracking small and big game animals. Their natural abilities allow them to track, point, mark falls, and retrieve on land and in water. They are born with a natural hunting instinct and drive and are persistent and methodical in their hunting pattern. They are excellent swimmers and love the water. They need daily off leash exercise, and a high level of obedience training so they are safe in the field.
We field test our dogs with the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA) and are members of the Prairie Vista and Wild Rose Chapters in Alberta, along with the Alaksa-Yukon and Northern Light Chapters in Alaska. We encourage and support our puppy families to test their pups in the NAVHDA Natural Ability Test before they are 16 months of age.

We are the Grantham Family. TJ and Heather, along with 5 children Dustin, Emily, Lydia, June and Luke, live on our acreage in the Yukon Territory with our Griffs, horses, cats, chickens, and a variety of game birds like homing pigeons, ducks, chuckar and pheasant for training. Kluane Point Kennel was born out of a passion and love for our Griffons, and a true desire to improve upon and create beautiful hunting companions that are healthy with sound temperaments and proper conformation.  We have fallen for this goofy, smart, human-like dog and would love to introduce you to a dog/master experience like no other.

Griffs are people dogs that thrive on human companionship. They have an intense need to be near their owners. Griffons do best kept in the house as a member of your family. Isolation from humans can quickly ruin a Griff's personality. Griffons need a significant amount of physical and mental exercise every day, they require an active family that has the time and desire to train and work them. The Griffon does not do well being kennelled for long periods of time. We look for families that have one person home for much of the day, or someone who can bring their Griff to work with them.

Griffons are gentle guardians of small children and enthusiastic playmates of older children and adults. Griffs can be reserved with strangers and can be quite protective of their family and property. Taking your Griffon to training classes and introducing him to a wide variety of people and places will help him to develop appropriate social behaviors.
