Kluane Point's Puppies
We are a small breeder of top quality Wirehaired Pointing Griffons from strong hunting lines. We occasionally have puppies available to qualified families. Our dogs are working hunting athletes, and will go to hunting homes only.

Griffs are natural hunters, and will do so whether their people are hunters or not. We love to see our Griffons adopted into hunting homes, to people who will allow them to do what they do best - point birds, retrieve over land and water, and track blood and animals. We encourage our Griffon families to get involved in their local hunting club, and to train for hunt tests with NAVHDA, AKC and CKC. Families do not have to be experienced hunters to train for hunt tests. The tests are a great way to discover your dogs natural ability and love for the hunt, and to learn about how to train a Griffon.

The Griffon is a hunting dog - it's what he is bred and born to do. Though there are Griff breeders that don't hunt, breeders who will sell their pups to non-hunting families, and people seeking hunting dogs who have no intention of hunting them - I don't believe my dogs (or any Griff) will be able to reach their full potential if they are denied hunting opportunities. Although the Griffon is a wonderful family dog and companion, he is still - at his core - a dog born to point birds in the field, retrieve birds and furred animals over land and water, and track birds and game over land and water. When you witness the joy in your pup when he goes hunting, you can't deny it is what he was born to do. All our pups go to hunting families - the few who don't participate in hunting-like activities like tracking and search and rescue work.

When they aren't hunting, Griffons are a versatile breed, and they excel in Agility, Shed Hunting, Obedience Trials, Tracking work and activities like being a partner in running and hiking. The Griffon needs a family that will include him in all aspects of their day to day life. Griffons need off-leash exercise daily. Families need to have access to areas where the Griff can run freely, and need to commit to a high level of obedience training to do this safely.  A couple of leash walks a day will not satisfy the Griffon's exercise needs and he will develop unwanted behaviors as a result, such as barking, digging, destroying, running away, and aggressive or fearful tendencies.

We look for families that have at least one person home much of the day - as the Griffon does not do well alone for long periods of time. For the first year, a Griffon will need to be crated or kept in a secure area when his people are not home, and he will become destructive if kept alone for too long. Griffons need an active family who have time to dedicate to their physical and mental stimulation, through off leash romps in the outdoors and daily training. Please contact us if you think a Griffon is right for you!
